FUNERAL IN THE CHURCH OF
Ss Peter and Marcellinus

Numerous Roman, in addition to family, friends and relatives, attended the funeral in the Church of Saints Peter and Marcellinus in via Merulana. Many accompanied the body to Verano, where he remained ten days in the warehouse waiting for permission to allow the burial in the family tomb Meluzzi, related to the Berettoni. There were no

The church was built in the fourth century by Pope Siricius near the catacombs of the Via Labicana: the adjoining nursing home became a center for pilgrims. In the eighth century, Pope Gregory III had restored the church. Pope Alexander IV decided to renovate it in 1256. In 1751 Benedict XIV commissioned the architect Marchese Girolamo Theodoli to rebuild from the ground up. Beneath the high altar of the church rest Bonosa and tulle.
The Discalced Carmelites received the administration of the place of worship, mantenedola until 1906. At the time of Joseph's funeral, the church was the parish.
